Spring 2024 is a season of “firsts” when it comes to making Nationals, and a track star racks up the honors.

When Rebecca Panko moved to NYC, she thought she wanted to pursue fashion photography. Instead, she enrolled at BMCC and eventually earned a Ph.D. in Biology.

The scholarship program provides tuition support and requires a GPA of at least 3.0, community service and more.

One of four winners from CUNY and among 508 nationwide, she earned an A.S. in Science in December.
